Let's face it, all forums or most forums have a set of rules that their members need to follow. That being said, for your forums, what rules are always incorporated into your projects? For me, I do not allow spamming at all. Actually, my staff is asked to automatically ban a user for spamming on the forum as we have a zero tolerance policy for it. Another frequent rule is that threats of violence and death, stalking, etc. are prohibited on any of my sites. If a user is caught doing any of those things, not only are they banned, but the authorities are notified to cover my own butt in case an incident is reported to me and a user actually gets hurt.

I don't have too many rules on my forum as I want it to be a pretty chill place. The biggest rules I have on my forum though are no pornography images/links to porn sites. Anyone caught doing that is banned immediately and anyone caught PM advertising is banned immediately. Those are my two biggest rules and I think I have just 5 rules in total on my forum.

Spamming, racism, and vulgar language is always prohibited. The internet is open to a wide variety of age groups, meaning the children have access to the internet and can come across your forum. It's always important to keep it clean and suitable for all audiences.

Another thing about forum rules, I've come across a few forums who haven't written them down yet. Or forums that have them hidden. Forum rules should be the first thing written on a new forum, and the rules should be displayed in a place where every visitor will have easy access to it.
